Why Mangrove?
Mangroves are adaptable coastal plants that act as safe havens for indigenous tropical fauna, biodiversity, and animal species. They exist at the intersection of all elements, aiding in life’s birth, death, and rebirth cycles. In indigenous African customs, traditional midwives were regarded as the community’s “trees.” These midwives symbolized a community’s interconnectedness, medicine, strength, and support that are vital to the sustainability of all families. Their “roots” ran deep and wide. As a system, mangroves work together to stabilize their environments. These are the attributes that frame The Mangrove Midwife’s scope of practice for families in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and beyond.
“Joyell is pure magic. Her steady nature and innate wisdom serve as the foundation to a practice of expertise, thoughtful and creative support, and advice you can trust. Becoming a mother during the pandemic was a joyful yet uniquely challenging experience, and I’m so grateful to have had Joyell supporting the journey.”
